Jesup –Tuesday, October 22nd marks the date of the 4th annual “Tuesday for Tatas” event in the lobby of Wayne Memorial Hospital . On this day, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., informational pamphlets, giveaways and door prizes relating to breast cancer education will be dispersed. T-shirts will also be sold. Attendees may register to win one of two mammograms to be given away during the month.

Additionally, Wayne Memorial has teamed up with Nesmith Chevrolet and General Motors to host “Drive for a Cure.” For every vehicle test driven between now and November 16, General Motors will donate $10 to the American Cancer Society. The vehicles and representatives from Nesmith will be on site at the Physical Therapy parking lot in front of the hospital 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 22nd to coincide with the Tuesdays for Tatas event.

The Tuesday for Tatas lobby event is in addition to Girls’ Night Out, which the hospital is hosting as well. During Girls’ Night Out, the radiology team is working extended hours to schedule mammograms. The remaining dates for Girls’ Night Out are:  October 17, 22, 24, 29 and 31.

Key points to know for Girls’ Night Out:

-          Mammograms must be ordered by a physician.  All patients must present physician orders at the appointment before the procedure.
-          All participants must have a scheduled appointment. Mammograms need to be scheduled through the WMH Centralized Scheduling Department at 912-530-3197 after receiving a physician’s order.  Unfortunately, walk-ins cannot be accepted.
-          Only annual and screening mammograms will be performed during the event. All mammograms scheduled between the hours of 4 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. in October are for screening purposes only. No prior issues or diagnostic mammograms will be performed during the event.
