Help Avert Summer Shortage of Blood

by Donating at Wayne Memorial Hospital Blood Drive Wednesday, July 10

According to the Red Cross, during the months of June, July and August, on average, about two fewer donors give blood at each Red Cross blood drive than what hospital patients need. This could add up to more than 100,000 fewer donations during the summer, but the need remains constant. In fact, someone in the United States needs blood every 2 seconds. You may wonder what you can do to help locally with such a large-scale, national need. Why not make an appointment today to give blood at the next hospital drive Wednesday, July 10, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.? Donors can pick their own appointment times by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS or visiting www.redcrossblood.org. Donors will be given a gift certificate for a meal at the award-winning Café at Wayne Memorial as a show of appreciation.
